What is Proof of Work 2.0

In Bitcoin, GPUs waste energy on meaningless hashing — billions of calculations that no one needs. In Gonka, it's different: every calculation is a real AI request from a real user. This is Proof of Work 2.0.

How regular Proof of Work operates

In the Bitcoin network, thousands of GPUs compete to find a random number (hash) the fastest. The found hash confirms the block, but is useless by itself. It is estimated that Bitcoin consumes more electricity than entire countries — and all this energy goes to a “digital lottery”.

Proof of Work 2.0: Useful Work

In Gonka, GPUs process real neural network requests. When a user sends a query via Gonka API, it is processed by one of the nodes — and this calculation is what confirms the block. Current model: Qwen3-235B. Sprint consensus distributes tasks among nodes in real-time. 100% of computing power goes to useful work.

Why it matters

PoW 2.0 solves three problems. Ecology: no senseless waste of energy. Efficiency: every watt creates real value — an answer to an AI request. Economy: the value of the GNK token is tied to the real market of AI computations, not to abstract hashing difficulty.

PoW 2.0 = mining that does useful work. GPUs don't waste energy — every calculation serves a real AI user.
