Digest #41: October 5 – October 11, 2026

The Gonka network has successfully upgraded to v0.2.16. This major release brings several important changes:

1. **Trusted Weight:** A participant's influence over voting, BLS, and PoC (Proof-of-Compute) verification now depends on the volume of compute confirmed in the previous epoch. This means that new or returning participants start with zero voting power but continue to earn rewards.

2. **Dynamic coefficients v1:** A system of dynamically adjusting coefficients for models has been introduced. This will allow the network to maintain predictable throughput for each model by automatically adjusting coefficients within a set range to balance load and demand. Initially, the coefficient for MiniMax M2.7 is fixed, while ranges of change have been set for GLM 5.3 Flash and DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731.

3. **Transaction fees:** Transaction fees have been introduced for the first time to prevent spam on the network. Transactions are grouped, and a fee of 1 ngonka per gas has been set for the `epoch` and `cosmos` groups. The remaining groups stay free for now. Hosts need to make sure their feegrant (permission to pay fees) is up to date.

The proposal to upgrade the network to v0.2.16 was successfully passed. 100% of participants voted in favor, confirming the community's consensus on introducing the new features and improvements.

The proposal on bounty rewards distribution for the v0.2.16 upgrade was passed. 84.33% of participants voted "For", which makes it possible to pay out rewards for contributions to the development and testing of the upgrade.

A vote is currently underway on the proposal to approve devshard v4.2 and remove v5. This vote will determine which devshard protocol versions will be supported on the network.

A new version of the devshardd protocol v4.2 and the v4.2.0 binary for Linux amd64 have been released. This update includes changes to the devshard protocol.

A new version of Devshard Gateway v4.1.3 has been released. This update includes changes to the devshardctl protocol and new container images for the gateway.
